Myron grew
up on a farm in South Dakota, in a Christian family that was very involved
in church. He had the opportunity to attend Christian elementary and high
schools. He attended Dordt College in Iowa and graduated with a bachelors
degree in mechanical engineering.
The next two years were spent doing graduate studies at the University
of Arizona, and then, with some prompting from the Intervarsity staff,
he pursued working with a mission organization. This resulted in two years
of teaching at the Sárospataki Református Gimnazium in Hungary (which
is also where he and Jenny met).
After two years of working for various employers in Tucson, Arizona, Myron
returned to teaching at Rehoboth Christian School in New Mexico. After
four years at this school, Myron accepted the invitation to teach math/science/computer
classes at ICA.
Jenny was born in Auckland, New Zealand, but soon afterwards moved to
the United States with her parents while her father attended seminary
in St. Louis. Her family lived in a number of locations in North America,
but she spent most of her school years living in Australia where her father
taught in various Bible schools and pastored different churches.
Jenny received a bachelor's degree in history and linguistics from La
Trobe University in Melbourne. After this she completed an education degree
at Deakin University in Geelong, Victoria. Then came a year of working
in Edinburgh, Scotland, followed by teaching at a couple schools in Hungary,
marriage, a variety of jobs in Arizona, and full time mothering and lots
of volunteering in the following years.
Jaime (5 this year) and Nathan (already 2) were both born in New Mexico.
Jaime is in the preschool this year at ICA, while Nathan spends his time
burning off energy in many different activities. Although neither Myron
or Jenny would have said they wanted to be missionaries, God used a variety
of circumstances and individuals to lead them together, and now they continue
to work at following the path He has set for them.
Like most people at ICA, you will find them doing many different things
throughout the week. Myron spends much of his time in the computer lab
keeping things working and answering questions. Jenny spends a lot of
time with the children, but also helps out various places. Even though
they are considered short- term missionaries by their sending mission,
Christian Reformed World Missions, they hope to spend at least a couple
years working at ICA - only time will reveal God’s plans.
The Kuipers want to thank their many supporters from all around the world.
They see their job as an extension of family, friends and churches who
want to help missionary families in West Africa by being involved in the
education of missionary families’ children. They desire to use their God-given
talents for the benefit of these children and families.
In Christ, Myron, Jenny, Jaime, Nathan and ???
